Summer is the perfect time for a picnic. In many European countries, the picnic has been the privilege of the aristocracy, and even
in the Oxford Dictionary of 1760, it was denoted as “fashionable form of social pastime”. To make your picnic ideal follow these simple rules.
1. The atmosphere above all
Set the tone and mood of your picnic by a certain theme: it can be a romantic picnic or picnic in the country style. Tableware from Portmeirion collection “Botanic Garden” is the best fit to create the right mood!
2. The place
It is better to give preference to hills: if you prefer beautiful views. In addition, there are less mosquitoes on such areas (to deal with mosquitoes – light scented candles with lavender).
3. Refined table setting
For the “social” picnic it is better to use beautiful porcelain cups and cutlery instead of plastic. It is also important
to pay attention to the tableware transportation. You will need to take two tablecloths: the first (oilcloth) on the bottom, directly on the ground, and the second (linen) – on the top. Foods will look great in wicker baskets and drinks – in carafe. To napkins not fly away because of the wind, tie them with the ribbon: it is convenient and looks great.
4. Planning the Menu
Picking a menu is all about personal preference, but you’ll want to make sure that the food you bring travels well. If you need to do any prep work for your dishes, make sure to do so ahead of time, and try your best to avoid messy foods. Dishes that can be enjoyed at room temperature are best, along with finger foods and tiny snacks.
5. Activities
Picnics are fun, but being that you’re outdoors, you’ll probably want to do more than just eat. Wiffle ball and frisbee will keep you busy in between servings, and they’re also easy to carry.
